Personal Care for Seniors
As we age, the changes in our bodies and minds can affect virtually every sector of our lives. Often, these changes mean that seniors need a little extra assistance to get through their daily routines. When people need help with their “Activities of Daily Living,” or ADLs, personal care can provide that assistance. We provide both in-home personal care and personal care for those in nursing and assisted living homes.
Personal care isn’t just about housekeeping–it’s about your loved one’s mental well-being as well. Personal care provides the services seniors need most to remain independent. It also allows them a sense of privacy and dignity that they may not have when a family member is caring for them.
What Is Included in Personal Care?
Personal care includes assistance with ADLs such as:
- Grooming
- Bathing
- Hygiene
- Mobility
- Eating/Feeding
- Toileting
- Dressing
In addition, our in-home care providers also often help with light housework, meal prep, transportation, socialization, and more. Receiving help with these activities can keep an elderly person in their home for longer and help them remain independent for as long as possible. Because every person’s needs are unique, you will need to undergo an in-home assessment of your (or your loved one’s) case and we will help you develop a personalized and comprehensive care program.
All of our personal care services are provided by a care aid under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). Our senior helpers all pass rigorous background tests and drug screening.
Cost of Personal Care for Seniors
The cost of personal care may vary depending on your loved one’s needs. We offer varying levels of free benefits and resources as well as Medicaid-reimbursed services and private pay options. We can help you apply for any benefits to which you may be entitled including those through Medicaid, Medicare, long-term disability, home-care policies, or local and federal grants and programs.
If you have questions about the cost of personal care or which programs and benefits you may qualify for, contact your local Agency on Aging and they will direct you to the appropriate resources.
